In 19th April 2021, the third monitoring visit of the LIFE BIOTAWEE project took place via online. As with the second monitoring visit, held in 2020, it was preferred to re-hold the meeting electronically for the safety of all attendees due to the current pandemic situation. This meeting was attended by the integrating partners of the consortium, REYDESA and BIOTATEC, as well as the expert monitor of the NEEMO team, the company that assists the European Commission in the monitoring of the LIFE + projects.
The monitoring visit began with a general presentation of the current status of the project where the new dates of the actions were updated after the approved extension of the project. The new ending will be in July 2022 instead in December 2020. Consecutively, each partner explained the actions executed, as well as the main results obtained to date. An update on the status of the open technical actions, actions B2 and B3, was made. The changes made in the development of the prototype were explained, the latter being a 50 L prototype prepared for bioleaching in an aerobic environment. Once the technical part was finished, the revision of administrative and financial data of their organisations in relation to the project took place.
